Airbus A350-1000 vs. Boeing 777-300ER
Boeing’s 787-10 and Boeing 777-9X and 777-8X has Airbus trapped. The A350-900 is a failure and it’s to late because Boeing has captured and cornered the market while Airbus has painted itself into the corner. The A350-1000 with 93,000 pounds of thrust cannot touch the 410 passenger 777-9X and the 365 passenger 777-8X. The Boeing 777's unique combination of superior range, outstanding fuel efficiency and passenger-preferred comfort has created long-range success for carriers around the world. And the 777-300ER now gives operators a perfect opportunity to extend that success. In this article, I will compare the Boeing 777-8X that can transport similar passenger numbers as the Airbus A350-1000, but has a far bigger range. The Boeing 777-8X features the same. The A350-1000 carries 15 fewer passengers in typical configuration than the 777-300ER and while lighter and more fuel-efficient than the 777 (assuming targets are achieved), cargo payload is also somewhat less. This puts Boeing is the position to argue its 777 may cost more to operate but has more revenue-generating capability than the A350-1000.
